In The News

Geneva Elementary celebrates 60 years (Provo Daily Herald)

In 1948, the United States of America was in a new, post-World War II era. In Utah County, the Geneva Steel Plant, built during the war, was drawing industrial workers and their families to what had been a largely agrarian area. In Orem, a new elementary school, Geneva Elementary at 665 W. 400 North, was built at a cost of $400,000.

Orem school crosswalk guards tired of close calls (Provo Daily Herald)

For more than a decade, Jo-Ellen Throckmorton has battled "creepers" and "twofers" in the streets of Orem. Those are industry terms, the crosswalk guard explains: The former refers to drivers who never quite stop at intersections, while the latter nomination is bestowed upon dubious motorists who quickly jet through intersections behind another car without waiting their turn.

For the Record (The Salt Lake Tribune)

Teen accused in Pioneer Park stabbing         Salt Lake City police arrested a teenager Monday evening after he allegedly stabbed a 52-year-old man during a fight at Pioneer Park.
